  • Causes of Red Ring of Death Errors

Despite all the technological advances the Xbox 360 has provided, it still suffers from some problems. The most common is that of hardware failure (aka red ring of death) Today you are going to learn the causes of red ring of death errors, as well as whether it is actually possible to fix them.

So, what causes red ring of death errors?

Firstly, have you ever noticed that when you play an Xbox 360, it tends to get very hot, very quickly? This is because the components loose heat whilst they carry out their normal function. Heat then builds up inside the case, and due to an inadequate amount of cooling equipment inside the Xbox 360, leads to the console shutting down and displaying the red lights error to warn you that something is wrong. Essentially too much heat in too small of an area is one cause of the red ring of death.

Another is a general hardware failure. These failures are often caused by a loose GPU (graphics processing unit) other causes can include problems with memory, the motherboard or the processor. The hard drive does not cause such problems as it is readily removable. An issue with the hard drive would not cause the red ring of death to displayed on the front of the console.

The good news is that it is possible to fix the red lights error by yourself, and at home. It isn’t necessary to purchase a new console or send your current one back for repair. All you need is two hours, some basic tools that can be found around the house, and an Xbox 360 repair guide. A good repair guide is not optional, it is absolutely mandatory as without one it will be impossible to determine the exact cause of the red ring of death on your console.
