Almost every Xbox gets ring of death. All you do is send it in free of shipping and they fixing and you get it back in 3 weeks. (plus they give you a free month of xbox live.) TRUST ME it is worth it the 360 is a great system and worth the inconveince.

i have had my xbox for about 1year now and i have never got the red ring. so in my case get one because they are mint. but saying that if you get one make sure you plug it into the t.v because you will get the ring however just switch it of then connect on > i know it might sound daft but i have done it a few times

I don’t think you’ll run into a problem but you’d like a ps3 much better. Honestly think about it though, to get xbox live, theres 50 dollers just for one year. To get wireless internet connection is another 100 bucks. It also plays stunning blue ray game and movies that no money can buy on a 360. You could pay 150 dollers and get HDdvd but it isn’t as good as blue ray and you can only get HD movies with it, no games. Think about is, ps3 is awsome online, and it’s free, thats why I got one over xbox. Plus xbox has a lot of problems that i never see with the ps3 just like this 3 rings of death thing. If you do get a 360, atleast look into buying a 5 year warrenty, i gareentee you’ll need it.

Way too common, and no you don’t get a new one back. You wait a month for them to send you a refurbished one just as likely (often times more likely) to fail again. I was gonna go with 360, but opted to go with PS3 instead based on a few things (price, no wifi, price of online, RRoD, no HD Drive). I suggest going with PS3, but if you wanna go with 360 go ahead but I don’t think RRoD (Red Ring of Death) is gonna go away anytime soon, even the newest CPUs and GPUs will have it, not 33% like b4 but It will still linger. Like I said go with PS3, you get more for your buck, and as Blu-Ray is winning the HD battle, you’ll be set fornot only gaming but HD movies.

I think 1 out of 4 players who play a lot will get it. Even if you don’t play that much you can still get it. Xbox will send you a box, you put your Xbox in it and send it back to microsoft. In about a month they will send you it back fixed or a new 1 if they can’t fix it. This is good up to 3 years if i’m correct unless they changed it.
DO NOT constanly turn on and off your xbox. It is said 3rd party accessories cause the rings(such as Pelican chargers and intercoolers, DO NOT BUY ANYTHING WITHOUT THE SHINNY MICROSOFT STICKER ON IT). I used a Pelican charger, and got the rings. But i used the charger for about 8 months before I got it, and they day I got the rings, i probably turned my xbox on and off like 25 times. Later in the day, sure enough I got the rings.
I say buy it, if you don’t use Pelican or other 3rd party accessorties or don’t do what I did, you probably won’t get it. If you do, in about a month you will get an xbox in the mail(either yours or a new 1). If you do get um, buy a new 1 for the month that you don’t have it, and then return it in either 15, or 30 days(what ever the return policy is at that store). Xbox will also send you a free 1 month gold card for the month you didn’t have yours and a month of your account was wasted. But if you get the backup Xbox, you wouldn’t waste anything.

Ok everybody he is asking about the Xbox 360 and not about being interested in buying a PS3 so dont bother pitching your preferences. Yeah it all depends I bought my Xbox 360 two years ago and it worked great then I got the “ring of death” a week ago. I called customer service and they sent me a box via UPS free of charge then I will get a refurbished or most probably a brand new console free of charge in a week or two. It is a minor inconvenience considering the Xbox 360 has the most awesome games plus you have free 3 year warranty against the dreaded “ring of death”. Well i myself have had a RingOfDeath. If you have a waanty for your X Box then you can send it back and they will either fix it if they can or get you a completly new one. If you are younger and do not understand the whole waranty thing ask your gurdian who bought it for you to go to X Box.com and see the details.And yes its for free. One last thing when i sent my XBOX mine was the same one, and i got 1 month of xbox live for free,and a opologie letter! GOOD LUCK

Iam awaiting the return of my xbox from microsoft after getting the dreaded ring of death. Had it 18mths but Microsoft cover you against this free of charge for 3yrs and send you a brand new one not re conditioned which is mint. Wouldnt get same service from Sony………. Send me a friend request through live and when i get the beast back i will give you a game. Hope this answers your question
