  • Is the Xbox 360 elite a safe investment? Does it have the same technical problems as earlier models?

I have heard a lot of things about “falcon chips” and 65 nm processors. But, I’ve only seen that in articles about what Microsoft had planned when the elite came out. Right now for the holiday season, is the xbox 360 elite a safe buy? Or is there still a legitimate chance that I’ll run into one of those crippling technical problems (i.e. RROD, disc scratching)?

    • The newer elite models are actually very safe and depenable. I have one myself and its been working fine.

The newer elite models have a added heat sinks that help cool the unit.

    • According to Peter Moore, before he left for EA Sports, the 360 Elite models have been fixed from the faulty hardware that was present in the Core and Pro systems. If you do end up with the RROD, they’ll repair it for free anyway.

My wife bought me the Elite a month ago. I had her get mo one of those because of the fact they weren’t having the technical difficulties the core and pro systems were having. The new pro systems with the HDMI port should be produced with the fixes as well if you don’t want to spend the extra cash on an Elite system.

    • Hey man,
Ive had an elite for a while now and have never had any problems. Ive also read around that in general, its not having any problems. Just the original. Id say its definetly a safe buy and worth it if you are looking for an xbox
