  • My Xbox 360 has the red ring of death going on with it, what should I do?

When I turn on my Xbox 360 the dreaded 3 red lights show up in the radial display surrounding the on button rather than the green lights. So at this point I figure I have a few options. I can send it to Microsoft and wait up to 20 days to get it back, also I hear that the problem can come back after the repair. I could wrap it in towels, only I hear that will only fix it temporarily. Someone told me I could also just fix it myself, which I think is doable. I built my own computer so opening an Xbox shouldn’t be too tough. Problem is I wonder how risky this option would be? Or I could spend the 300 dollars on a brand new Xbox 360, put my old console inside the new console’s box and then take it back to the store, getting my money back in the process. Problem with that if they somehow find out its not the actual console I bought from them I won’t get my money back.

So what do you you guys think I should do?

    • I’m quite appalled that someone would be that dishonest…

I think you should call the company and see what the estimation of fixing it will be.

If you decide to fix your xbox on your own there is a guidebook telling you how to repair it without damaging it. I read off a site that wrapping it in towels only makes it worse because whatever problem you have plus overheating makes it a lot worse you might also have a problem in your power supply. this is the website that tells you things to try
