I know that sounds odd, but i got the 3 red lights on my xbox right after i got 1 flashing red light that said i had a hard drive error (E 79). Now get this, i sent it to Microsoft, and then send me back a unit. I plug it in, it works. I attach my hard drive. Loads my stuff. As soon as i put in a game and load a game…game freezes. I turn it off and on…3 red lights. The refurbished system they sent me (different from the origional one i sent them), worked for 10 minutes. Now they are sending me a 3rd unit, most likely also a seperate referbished system.

My question is…any chance i have a bad hard drive and this is crashing the xbox? I mean, i know that the 3 red lights are supposed to be a loose chip due to overheating…but i found this to be a very ODD coincidence. And frankly, i don’t want to plug in my hard drive and have yet another non working xbox360 10 minutes later.

Anyone ever heard of the 3 rights being caused by a crappy hard drive?
