    • try to get an elite version if you can, they tend to hang in there much better IMO. if not that make sure its a newer model…over the years microsoft has been working on reducing the RROD so the newer the better. If you buy new you will get the warranty and can send it in and get it fixed for free, if you buy used see about in store warranties. DO NOT use the intercooler fan thingy, it doesnt work and WILL void your warranty…I play with mine on the long side, not up and down and I make sure there is room for air to get in the vents

    • if you get a new one, it shouldn’t be an issue. I have one of the original models, and have never had an issue. However, if it’s an older one that you’re buying, I would recommend leaving it somewhere that it won’t overheat, the red ring of death is the result of some of the cheap soldering going bad. i would also recommend not leaving the xbox on and running when you’re not playing, i have a lot of friends that would pause games, and leave them running all day and night, and they had ring of death problems
