ive been playing my xbox 360 just fine for eight months , but now, in the middle of gears of war 2 it started flashing only two red lights, not all three. yesterday i looked up the towel trick on you tube, and noticed that everyones xbox ‘ring of death’ flashed 3 lights. just wondering if i should do the towel trick or not. (idk about my warranty)

2 red lights happend to my friend 1month ago and still working fine, so you could probably be ok with the xbox, but if you want to try the towel thing.

    • 2 red lights means it just overheated. Just make sure the xbox is in a well ventilated area and it’ll be fine.

    • Towel trick sometimes is for 3 lights. Will not work for 2 lights (overheating).

    • Two lights is just System Overheat. Maybe move you Xbox so it isn’t laying on its side for better ventalation. Also put it in open air rather than on a TV shelf or tucked away somewhere.

Maybe if it continues to do that invest in a $20 Intercooling System. They suck hot air out of the console and blow cooler air in. Really worked for mine on hot days.

The towel trick is used to melt cracked hardware together to bypass the red-ring-of-death. Not to be used with overheating issues.

      Good luck. Hope I helped.
