Xbox 360 penny trick was 3 rrod but now 2 red rings?

I did the penny trick on the xbox 360 because it had the 3 rrod. When I turned it on after fixing it, it still had 3 red rings. I then went to fetch the towels for that step, and when I had turned it on after wrapping the towels around it for literally 10 seconds 2 red lights turned on.I turned the xbox 360 off and left it in the fridge for 20 mins and tried turning it back on (without towels) and the 2 red rings are still there. I repeated this step twice and nothing is happening.
Are there any suggestions? Could I have put the fan in wrong or something, or could the pennies be too thick for some bizarre reason (I used 3 english pennies and A LOT of tape, but all the screws fitted in so I assumed everything was fine).
